| STEVE | ![]() | MARRIOTT |
| On April 20th 2001, the 10th anniversary of his death, a star studded group of fans and friends gathered at The Astoria in London to pay tribute to Steve Marriott, lead singer of the Small Faces and Humble Pie. Steve was also friend and colleague to Peter. Peter made the trip and performed with some of his former Humble Pie band mates to remember Steve. Here's what Peter said........
"I just got back from an amazing trip to England where Jerry Shirley, Greg Ridley, Clem Clempson and myself played together for the first time in 30 years. Actually, I have not played with Clem before as he took my place in Humble Pie.
We played "Four Day Creep", "Natural Born Boogie", "Shine On", "Halleluyah I Love Her So" and just because we could, we did "I Don't Need No Doctor"! Needless to say it was a very special night at the Astoria Theatre in London's West End. Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) came and loved it. Everyone from "the old country" I have ever played with seemed to be there. Rick Wills was in the house. (Wind of Change, Frampton's Camel and Somethin's Happening's bass player) Midge Ure, Small Faces' Kenny Jones & Ian "Mac" Mclagan, Noel Gallagher, Paul Weller, Steve's children, Molly and Toby Marriot and a host of singers and players from bands old and new. It was filmed so we can all see how it turned out when it becomes available sometime in the future. Put it this way, it was an extremely important moment in my life and I wish you could all have been there." | ||
